Grosvenor St Cambridge – alteration

Grosvenor St, Cambridge

Alteration & Addition

154m²    |    3 bedroom    |    2025

Initial design work commenced in 2020, when our client Janine and I walked through the then tenanted house. It morphed along the way to suit the financial climate and the clients needs, but having the luxury of time ensured it wasn't rushed with the outcome speaking for itself!

The house started as a two-bedroom 73m² duplex dwelling, attached to a mirror image neighbours footprint.

The outcome is a stunning modest sized three-bedroom home with attached internal access garage, 2.5 bathrooms including the Master Suite walk-in robe and Ensuite. Generous storage has been included behind a feature wall in the entrance foyer. Access off the galley kitchen leads to another usable outdoor area which captures the morning sun, and leads to the service area and fernery.

All the joinery has been replaced with double glazing, ensuring each bedroom has a direct link to the landscaped gardens.

Brick veneer was chosen for the exterior new addition to align with the existing, and re-roofed with long-run profiled metal replacing the old leaking concrete tiles.

Overall the house footprint is now 154m².

The depth and mood of the interior colours and textures, provides that instant relaxed and chilled vibe we all need to escape to. Far from the beige brigade and bland showroom look, this house reflects our client's character and exceptional taste and is testament to Janine's hard work.

I've enjoyed working with all of my clients, but will go out on a limb here and say this has been the best journey with a client and now friend. Thanks for having us along!
